Abraham Ross is the son of an Iranian mother and American father. Growing up in a bi-cultural, Southern California household has instilled Mr. Ross with a deep sense of the importance of both diversity and justice. His cultural awareness was further heightened by his study of the Korean martial, Taekwondo, at the Beverly Hills Martial Arts Center, from the age of 16.
Mr. Ross attended Beverly Hills High School, graduating in 1996. He spent three years at Santa Monica College before transferring to the University of California, Santa Barbara. While studying history at UCSB, Mr. Ross focused on the 20th century, with an emphasis on the cold war and the mechanics of foreign governments. After graduating from USCB in 2001, Abraham or Avi as he is more informally known, made the decision to attend law school at the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento, CA.
McGeorge School of Law emphasized the importance of international law and provided an environment in which Mr. Ross could continue to pursue his interest in the world outside the United States. The highlight of his law school experience was a trip to Salszburg, Austria to study international comparative human rights law with sitting Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy. The Austria trip was an unforgettable experience that further demonstrated the importance of the global community.
Upon graduating from McGeorge School of Law, Mr. Ross sat for and passed the June 2005 bar exam. After the bar exam Mr. Ross moved back to Southern California and began working at a small law firm in Long Beach, CA. After working as an associate for a year Mr. Ross opened his own solo practice, the Law Offices of Abraham C. Ross, Esq.
Mr. Ross spent the past year splitting his time between his solo practice and working part time as the Naturalization Coordinator at Jewish Family Services of Los Angeles. Mr. Ross focuses primarily on immigration related issues but has experience dealing with a wide variety of matters ranging from personal injury to business litigation to criminal law.
Mr. Ross is interested in running for Beverly Hills City Council because he has a desire to serve his community, and provide access to those who feel underrepresented by city government.
